Organisational interventions to improve employees' health and wellbeing: A realist synthesis

Although organisational interventions have shown promising results in improving employees' health and wellbeing, reviews of the effectiveness such conclude are inconsistent. Realist synthesis is considered an appropriate method literature review to improve consistency empirical evidence by developing generalisable statements ‘what works for whom which circumstances’. In this article, identify synthesise existing from studies interventions, we conducted a realist according RAMESES publication standards. We reviewed 28 articles. Six programme theories were developed that explain how different mechanisms may bring about outcomes contexts. These based on process implementation adherence, communication, participation, senior management support, middle support external consultants/researchers support. This enhances understanding contexts, group employees. As such, it makes important potential contribution designing, implementing evaluating future interventions.
